Dr. Joshua P. Smith is a multifaceted individual who is gifted in many areas as a best-selling author, international speaker, serial entrepreneur, life and business coach, mentor, corporate trainer, corporate consultant, licensed professional counselor, and a highly sought-after spiritual advisor. Whereas many people choose to live a life of complacency and comfortability, he constantly challenges others to level up—both personally and professionally. Joshua has been working in the mental health field for seventeen years and is a renowned expert on emotional health and wellness. He is best known for his balanced and wholistic approach to life, spirituality, and the marketplace, empowering others to live purposefully and passionately.

 

Dr. Smith has earned degrees in psychology, professional counseling, and divinity, and holds an earned doctorate degree in professional counseling from Mississippi College. His doctoral research was focused on treating black men with depression using his own evidence-based integrative treatment approach, Soul Healing Integrative Psychotherapy™.

 

Dr. Smith is the CEO of J. P. Smith Enterprises, LLC, the founder of The Soul Healing Initiative, a forum to provide education & train individuals on the principles of emotional health and wellness. He also trains therapists, faith leaders and corporations to provide faith-based, trauma-informed care through Soul Healing University. As a faith-based clinician and mental health coach, Dr. Smith is also in private practice as the CEO and lead therapist at Soul Healing Psychotherapy Services with offices in Mississippi & Texas. In addition to his clinical and leadership work, he currently teaches counseling as a professor at two colleges in the Houston area and is passionate about bridging academic training with real-world clinical practice.

 

Internationally, Dr. Smith is a member of the Jamaica Diaspora Taskforce Action Network, serving on the behavioral health taskforce. He also works closely with the Ministry of National Security in Jamaica as a consultant and trainer. Dr. Smith is a 2020 honoree of The Mental Health Association of South Mississippi and has devoted his life to helping people heal so that they can find and fulfill purpose while maximizing their potential.

 

Ministerially, Dr. Smith is the founder and overseer of House of Healing International, Inc., an apostolic training center and alliance of churches headquartered in Gulfport, Mississippi with campuses in New Orleans, LA & Houston, TX. He served as the headquarters location’s lead pastor from 2016 until 2024. He also serves as the founder and prelate of The International Fellowship of Healthy Churches & Ministries, Inc. and its subsidiary, The LeaderShift Network, a thriving network of affiliated churches and ministries focused on leader and organizational health. Committed wholeheartedly to equipping disciples and leaders for ministry and the marketplace, he is a noted trainer of prophets, intercessors, and other five-fold ministry leaders around the world.

 

His most important roles are husband to the love of his life, Mrs. Riyana Smith and father to his daughter, Zoe.
